 About Me & Flutterby Music

Flutterby Music is an independent music education company, owned and managed by Rachel Ramsay, who teaches all sessions and is autonomous in planning and delivery of the curriculum and session plans.

I love working with babies and young children and really enjoy seeing the small successes of each individual child, from the first time they smile in class, or when they say my name in the ‘roll the ball’ song, or when they sing a whole song, or when the new rhythm name or solfa sign sets off a light bulb of musical understanding.
— Rachel Ramsay

I’m a mum of two Colourstrings educated children. Seeing the progress they have made in their Colourstrings sessions since they were tiny has given me real insight into the approach and a total belief in the musical and other learning benefits it can give. I now have two budding string players and I’m convinced that their learning has been speeded up by the fabulous musical start they had.

I really enjoy continuing the learning of several of my Colourstrings ‘graduates’ onto the piano. Having done all that groundwork, their level of understanding is far beyond where a beginner pianist might be if they had not had any previous musical experience. I do however, still take on ‘real’ beginners and use singing and movement to help imbed musical concepts before putting them onto the instrument.

Each child takes their own unrushed journey, and I can’t wait to see where they are in a few years’ time. I hope to be part of your child’s journey too.
